CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Apr. 20, 2015) - After compiling a 4-0 mark in the circle last week, LIU Post sophomore hurler
Ashley Martin (Long Beach, N.Y.) earned her third East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week nod on Monday.
In addition to posting a flawless record, Martin shut out a pair of regionally-ranked opponents (Pace and Queens) and notched a save. She also fanned 26 batters over 29.1 innings pitched and limited opposing hitters to a .159 average against.
Through the 2015 campaign, Martin currently boasts the league's second-lowest earned-run average at 1.32. That clip also ranks 15th in all of Division II. Additionally, the Long Beach native leads the ECC in complete games (13), shutouts (6) and batting average against (.195), while sitting second in wins (13) and saves (2) and third in strikeouts (80).
Martin and the Pioneers return to the field Tuesday (Apr. 21), when they face ECC rival and next-door neighbor NYIT in a twinbill at 2:30 p.m. in Old Westbury.
