Outdoor Track and Field Competes in Tom Farrell Classic
Complete ResultsQUEENS, N.Y. (May, 3, 2015) - The LIU Post men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed in the second-annual Tom Farrell Classic at St. John's University on Friday and Saturday.
The men's squad had an excellent showing at the meet, as the 500-meter run saw a three-four-five finish from
Thomas Flynn (Smithtown, N.Y.),
Ryan Gioe (Huntington Station, N.Y.) and
Tyler McGarvey (Babylon, N.Y.) at 16:07.02, 16:24.48 and 16:44.16, respectively. The men's 4x100-meter relay squad,
Bjorn Bjornsson (Levittown, N.Y.),
Dale McDonald (Roosevelt, N.Y.),
Ramel Joseph (Jamaica, N.Y.) and
Kasim Thomas (Bronx, N.Y.), took the silver finish at 44.35. The 1,500-meter run saw
Steven Arnone (Staten Island, N.Y.) and
Joseph Lasher (Seaford, N.Y.) complete the feat fifth and 10th, at 4:19.27 and 4:34.08, respectively, while the 100-meter dash saw a Thomas completion at 11.57. Joseph and Thomas ran to 22.77 and 23.25 finishes, respectively, in the 200-meter dash.
The women's side also boasted stellar efforts, as the 1,500-meter run saw a two-three-four finish from
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.),
Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) and
Lauren Hoffman (Melville, N.Y.) at 4:56.82, 4:58.96 and 5:13.24, respectively, while
Jessica Wiking (Farmingdale, N.Y.) completed the feat in the Top-10, at 5:24.20.
Alyssa McDonald (New Rochelle, N.Y.) finished eighth in the 100 and 400-meter hurdles at 18.83 and 1:16.71, respectively.
Robin Lynn (Glen Gardner, N.J.) wrapped things up for the women with a 2:27.35, seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run.
LIU Post outdoor track and field is set to return to competition Friday, May 15, at the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Princeton, N.J.
