INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 3, 2015) - On Sunday night, the eight-team field for the 2015 NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Championship was released, and LIU Post earned the No. 4 seed in the North Region.
The No. 5/6 Pioneers will travel to Syracuse, N.Y. on Saturday (May 9) to face No. 1/1 ranked Le Moyne in a re-match of last year's national quarterfinal showdown. In 2014, LIU Post bested the then-No. 3 Dolphins, 9-3, at Ted Grant Field.
In that contest, junior attackman
Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) had a game-high four points (3 G, 1 A). Senior attackman
Chris Caiazza (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and junior midfielder
Anthony Berardis (Mahopac, N.Y.) added a goal apiece.
LIU Post and Le Moyne have squared off a total of seven times, under the watch of Head Coach
John Jez (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.). It is also the third-consecutive time that the two squads are meeting in the national quarterfinals.
The winner of Saturday's game will meet the victor of the other quarterfinal between No. 2 seed Adelphi and No. 3 seed Merrimack next Sunday (May 17) in the NCAA Division II National Semifinals.
