GRAND LAKE, Colo. (Aug. 24, 2015) - On Monday morning, LIU Post women's lacrosse junior defender
Brittany Smith (Dix Hills, N.Y.) was recognized to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association/Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll.
Smith, a Health Sciences major, boasts a 3.74 cumulative grade-point average. In order to be named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have achieved junior academic status and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Smith garnered All-East Coast Conference second-team accolades in 2015, following a season in which she made a career-high 19 starts. The Dix Hills native amassed 24 ground balls, 19 caused turnovers and 18 draw controls, while aiding a defense that limited the opposition to the fifth-lowest goals-against average (5.58) in the nation.
Additionally, Smith, who was one of 178 student-athletes from Division II to be praised on the ledger, netted her first collegiate goal in an 18-1 win over Queens last April.
