BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 19, 2015) - The LIU Post women's soccer team took down East Coast Conference rival New York Institute of Technology, 4-0, in its 2015 ECC opener Saturday at Pioneer Soccer Park.
The Pioneers (5-1, 1-0 ECC) extended their unbeaten streak against the Bears (3-1-1, 0-1 ECC) to 22 straight games (21-0-1) since the program's first year in 1994.
In a first half that was dominated by defense, the green and gold were able to get on the board late, as senior forward
Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway) scored her sixth goal of the season to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
In the second half, LIU Post turned up the offense. Sophomore forward
Alex Lynn (Sydney, Australia) scored off an assist from freshman forward/midfielder
Angela Careddu (Flushing, N.Y.) to make it 2-0 in the 48th minute.
Then, in the 66th minute, junior forward/midfielder
Julia Backman (Morsil, Sweden) headed in a corner kick from senior back
Katie LaManna (Smithtown, N.Y.) to widen the Pioneers' advantage to 3-0.
Finally, in the 89th minute, LaManna bent in a free kick to cap the scoring.
LIU Post dominated offensively, outshooting NYIT, 22-7, and earned four corners to the Bears' two.

Mark Dawson and the Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday (Sept. 23), when they travel to Wilmington, Del. to take on Wilmington University. The opening kick is slated for 3:30 p.m.
