BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 26, 2015) - On Saturday, the LIU Post football team was handed its first defeat of the 2015 season; a devastating 40-37 loss to Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference action at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

Despite being ahead 37-20 with over a minute to go in regulation, the Pioneers (3-1, 2-1 NE-10) surrendered 20 unanswered points, including a game-winning 41-yard hail mary as time expired.

Red-shirt freshman running back Malik Pierre (Holbrook, N.Y.) rushed 33 times for 238 yards and three touchdowns in the contest. His total rushing yards were the most in a single game by a Pioneer since Anthoney Adamic (268 yards vs. Merrimack College) in 2007.

Leading 10-6 midway through the third quarter, a 64-yard scamper by Pierre gave LIU Post first-and-goal at the Stonehill (4-0, 3-0 NE-10) one-yard line. Then, on the ensuing play, Pierre took another handoff and ran it into the end zone, extending the Pioneers' advantage to two possessions (17-6).

LIU Post also scored on its subsequent two drives, both of which were staged by junior quarterback Jeff Kidd (Salem, Ore.).

Kidd first hooked up with red-shirt junior wideout Shane Hubbard (St. Albans, N.Y.) on a 36-yard touchdown strike, and followed that up with a two-yard touchdown pass to senior tight end Sean Binckes (Brooklyn, N.Y.).

The hosts managed to put up 20 consecutive points in the third quarter, and held a 30-6 lead with less than two minutes remaining in the period.

But, the fourth quarter belonged to the Skyhawks, who outscored the Pioneers by a 27-7 count. A 41-yard touchdown heave from Matt Foltz (Mount Joy, Pa.) to Corey White (Bergenfield, N.J.) on the last play of the game completed the comeback.

Head Coach Bryan Collins and his LIU Post squad return to action next Saturday (Oct. 3), when they travel to Springfield, Mass. to face NE-10 arch-rival American International. It is the first meeting between the two squads since last season's NE-10 Championship. Kickoff from Ronald J. Abdow Field is scheduled for noon.
