KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 8, 2015) - Despite opening the 2015 campaign at 1-0-1, the LIU Post men's soccer team slipped to No. 15 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top-25 Poll, released Tuesday.

In their season opener at Adelphi (Sept. 3), the Pioneers found themselves down 2-0 with less than 10 minutes to go in regulation.

Sophomore forward Jason Lampkin (Hawardon, North Wales, U.K.) found the back of the net in the 83rd minute to make it 2-1, before junior defenseman Joey Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway) drew a foul in the box. Graduate midfielder Tom Bowen (Aberdovey, Wales, U.K.) connected on a penalty kick just 3:33 later to tie it. Neither team would score in overtime and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

In the green and gold's second contest against then-No. 16 Southern Connecticut State, it was Lampkin again that got things going. The sophomore scored all three Pioneer goals and senior keeper Jesper Malmstrom (Linkopping, Sweden) made three saves to earn his first win of the season.

Head Coach Andreas Lindberg and the Pioneers are back in action Thursday (Sept. 10), when they take on 17th-ranked Merrimack College, as part of the Purple Knight Classic in Bridgeport, Conn. The contest is a re-match of the 2014 NCAA Division II East Region Championship in which LIU Post won, 2-0. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
