CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Sept. 8, 2015) - On Tuesday, LIU Post men's soccer sophomore forward
Jason Lampkin (Hawardon, North Wales, U.K.) was named the East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Lampkin, the 2014 ECC Rookie of the Year, picked up right where he left off last season, scoring four goals in two games over the weekend at the Adelphi Alumni Invitational.
In the Pioneers' 2015 opener versus Adelphi (Sept. 3), Lampkin's tally with 7:51 to go sparked a game-tying two-goal rally that forced overtime. The game eventually ended in a 2-2 draw.
Two days later (Sept. 5), the sophomore found the back of the net three times, as LIU Post defeated then-No. 16 Southern Connecticut State, 3-0, for the team's first win of the year.
Lampkin has already scored four goals in just two games, compared to a total of six goals in 20 contests a season ago.
Lampkin and the Pioneers return to the pitch on Thursday (Sept. 10), when they travel to Bridgeport, Conn. to take on 17th-ranked Merrimack College, as part of the Purple Knight Classic at Knights' Field. The contest is a re-match of the 2014 NCAA Division II East Region Championship, in which LIU Post won, 2-0. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
