INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jan. 25, 2016) - On Monday, the National Collegiate Athletic Association announced that it will be recognizing the 20-year anniversary of the national title-winning 1996 LIU Post men's lacrosse team.

The invitation is extended to all former players and coaches, who were members of the 1996 squad. The ceremony will occur at halftime of the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championship at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa. on Sunday, May 29.

The 1996 Pioneers' men's lacrosse team, led by LIU Post Athletic Hall of Famer Tom Postel, went 10-3 overall and captured the program's first-ever NCAA Division II National Championship, defeating Long Island rival Adelphi University, 15-10.

The green and gold tallied 138 goals that season and allocated 91 assists. Six different players were named All-Americans, including attackman Jay Narvaez, who led the team in scoring with 48 points (24 goals, 24 assists).

Between the pipes, goaltender Kelly Bixler, a First Team All-American, started in all 13 contests for LIU Post. He compiled an 8.23 goals-against average and a .624 save percentage, while making 156 stops.
