BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 26, 2016) - On Wednesday, the No. 2 LIU Post men's soccer team scored three goals in the first half to beat University of the District of Columbia, 4-1, in East Coast Conference action at Pioneer Soccer Park.

The Pioneers (14-0-1, 7-0 ECC), who outshot the Firebirds (4-11-1, 3-4-1 ECC) by a 14-1 count in the first half, opened the scoring in the 13th minute. Senior forward Jason Lampkin (Hawardon, Wales, United Kingdom) one-timed a Harry Pearse (London, England) cross inside the right post for the quick 1-0 advantage.

Shortly thereafter, sophomore midfielder Charlie Ledula (London, England) doubled the Pioneers' lead. In the 29th minute, he collected a long ball from Pearse and finished a shot into the right side of the net.

LIU Post eventually brought a 3-0 advantage into the intermission, as freshman forward Gianluca Santacruz (Southampton, N.Y.) put back a Ledula rebound in the 36th minute.

In the latter session, junior back David Arvidsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) added his fourth goal of the season, on a penalty kick, to make it a 4-1 game with 11:17 remaining.

Between the pipes, senior goalkeepers Jesper Malmstrom (Linkopping, Sweden) and Brian McPartland (Hicksville, N.Y.) combined to make six saves for the Pioneers. Freshman netminder Joao Brusamolin (Minas Gerais, Brazil) stopped three shots for the Firebirds.

Head Coach Andreas Lindberg and his LIU Post squad close out the 2016 regular season Saturday (Oct. 29), when they face ECC rival New York Institute of Technology at 2:30 p.m. in Old Westbury.
