Women's Basketball Chosen Sixth in ECC Preseason Poll

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 26, 2016) - On Wednesday, the LIU Post women's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the 2016-17 East Coast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The Pioneers return just three starters from last year's five-win squad, including senior forward Janaysia James (Perth Amboy, N.J.) and sophomore guard Shannon Doyle (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.). James averaged 6.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game a season ago, while Doyle scored 5.8 points per contest and connected on 30 three-pointers.

Queens was tabbed as the unanimous preseason favorite, after picking up 100 points and all 10 first-place votes. NYIT placed second with 83 points, while Roberts Wesleyan (72 points), St. Thomas Aquinas (63 points) and Bridgeport (52 points) rounded out the Top-5.

Head Coach Deirdre Moore and her LIU Post squad open the 2016-17 season on Friday, Nov. 11, when they host Pace University in the ECC/NE-10 Challenge at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
