BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 28, 2016) - On Thursday, LIU Post women's soccer senior back
Kristin Brandman (East Northport, N.Y.), junior midfielder
Klara Berggren (Stockholm, Sweden) and sophomore forward
Andrea Huntzinger (Stockholm, Sweden) were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team.
It is the first time in
Mark Dawson's nine-year tenure as head coach that the Pioneers have garnered as many as three Academic All-District citations.
Brandman, who carries a 3.63 cumulative grade-point average in Education, has anchored a stingy defensive unit that has held the opposition to the fewest goals allowed in the East Coast Conference. The green and gold have yielded just eight goals this season, while posting 10 shutouts.
Berggren, a 3.94 GPA student in Business, ranks second on the team in scoring with nine points (4 G, 1 A). Two of her four goals have been game-winners, one of which was scored in the final minute of regulation in a 2-1 win against Mercy on Oct. 8.
Huntzinger boasts a 3.94 grade-point average in Business Management. She has been a force in 2016, tallying five goals (three game-winners) and five assists for a team-leading 15 points. Her five helpers are currently tied for the fifth-most in the league.
The Pioneers wrap up the 2016 regular season on Saturday (Oct. 29), when they face New York Institute of Technology in an ECC showdown at noon in Old Westbury.
