BRONX, N.Y. (Oct. 7, 2016)
- On Friday, the LIU Post men's and women's cross country teams ran at the 2016 Metropolitan Championships, hosted by Fordham University at Van Cortlandt Park.

The women's squad recorded a seventh-place showing at the meet, while the men's team placed ninth.

Junior Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) stole the show yet again for the Pioneers, clocking a second-place time of 18:34.8 in the 5k. That mark shattered her own Van Cortlandt Park record of 18:53 from the Fordham Fiasco on Sept. 10.

Graduate Ashlin Conroy (Syosset, N.Y.) crossed at 20:11.4, which was good for a 23rd-place finish. Freshman Nicolette Agostinacchio (Wantagh, N.Y.) added a 72nd-place run of 22:03.1.

Sophomore Kaitie Schillaci (Albany, N.Y.) and freshman Alexandria Okon (Laurel, Md.) added respective times of 23:17.4 and 23:36.0.

For the men, junior Ryan Gioe (Huntington, N.Y.) came in 54th, after completing the five-mile race in 29:20.6. Senior Tyler McGarvey (Babylon, N.Y.) was 89th (32:59.7).

Freshmen Will Coelho (Shirley, N.Y.) and Justin Ortega (Bay Shore, N.Y.) individually finished at 33:57.9 and 36:18.8.

Head Coach Kevin Buckley and the Pioneers are back in action next Saturday (Oct. 15), when they travel to Albany for the University at Albany Invitational.
