CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 21, 2016) - The East Coast Conference awarded its weekly women's basketball honors Monday, and LIU Post freshman forward
Mikaiya Moore (Amityville, N.Y.) was tabbed as the league's rookie of the week.
It is the first collegiate honor for Moore, who averaged a team-leading 23.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game in a pair of home victories for the Pioneers last week.
Moore led off the week with a 20-point, 11-rebound performance in a 74-47 rout of Wilmington on Wednesday (Nov. 21). Three days later, she finished with 27 points on 11-of-13 shooting and nine rebounds, as the green and gold dismantled Holy Family, 78-67.
Moore currently leads the ECC in field-goal percentage (.600) this season and ranks fourth amongst the league's leaders in scoring average (18.8 points per game). Additionally, she has reached double figures in scoring in each of her first four games as a Pioneer.
Moore and her LIU Post side are back in action Wednesday (Nov. 23), when they face ECC arch-rival New York Institute of Technology at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
