SOMERS, Wis. (Nov. 22, 2016) - For the second-straight week, LIU Post junior swimmer
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) has been named the CollegeSwimming.com Metropolitan Conference Swimmer of the Week, it was announced Tuesday morning.
Bendfeldt individually posted a pair of NCAA "B" cuts at the Frank Elm Invitational last weekend. She touched the pad at 51.47 in the 100-yard freestyle and swam to a time of 56.47 in the 100-yard backstroke.
In addition, Bendfeldt teamed up with sophomores
Elin Kvarnemar (Varberg, Sweden) and
Caitlin Johnstone (Ashburton, New Zealand) and freshman
Tove Sparrman (Upplands Väsby, Sweden) to clock an NCAA-provisional 1:35.68 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
To this point, Bendfeldt has raced to NCAA "B" cuts in six different events in 2016-17.
Bendfeldt and the Pioneers are back in action next weekend (Dec. 2-4), when they compete at the ECAC Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.
