HOPKINTON, N.H. (Nov. 5, 2016) - Junior
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) qualified for the national meet Saturday at the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Championships, hosted by Franklin Pierce University at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds.
It is the second time in Williams' career that she has earned a bid to the NCAA Division II National Championships. As a freshman, she placed 170th in her quest for a national title, clocking a 23:37.4.
Williams earned one of only three individual qualifying spots at the national meet, after a fourth-place finish of 21:36.8 in the 6k. The mark broke her own school record of 21:41 in 2014.
Graduate
Ashlin Conroy (Syosset, N.Y.) turned in a 57th-place showing for the Pioneers, crossing at 23:40.9.
For the men, freshman
Jeffrey Reyes (Bay Shore, N.Y.) came in 73rd with a time of 34:29.2. Senior
Tyler McGarvey (Babylon, N.Y.) followed in 81st (34:53.4).
Junior
Ryan Gioe (Huntington Station, N.Y.) added a 109th-place run of 35:57.6.
The 2016 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 9:45 a.m. at the Abbey Course in Saint Leo, Fla.
