BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 6, 2016) - On Sunday, the LIU Post wrestling team cruised to a 45-6 win against American International College in its 2016 season opener at the Pratt Recreation Center.
In addition to winning four matches via forfeit, the Pioneers (1-0) also earned two victories via pinfall.
In the 165-lb. weight class, junior
Ed Ramirez, Jr. (Massapequa, N.Y.) needed just 31 seconds to pin Yellow Jackets' (0-1) freshman Ian Frament (Mechanicville, N.Y.).
Then, at 174 lbs., sophomore
Dan Arkow (Merrick, N.Y.) pinned red-shirt freshman James Brescia (Marlborough, Mass.) in 1:15.
Junior
Matt Langan (Wantagh, N.Y.) scored 12 near-fall points in a 21-4 technical fall of freshman Christian Echevarria (Beverly, Mass.) at the 149-lb. discipline.
In his collegiate debut, freshman
Dan McClure (Westhampton, N.Y.) majored fellow freshman Isaiah Collins (East Hartford, Conn.), 11-1, at 184 lbs.
