KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 8, 2016) - On Tuesday, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its final 2016 regular-season poll for Division II men's soccer, and LIU Post was slotted at No. 1 in the tally.
It is the first time since 2013 that the Pioneers have been atop the NSCAA poll. They were previously ranked No. 2 each of the last three weeks.
The green and gold captured their second-straight East Coast Conference title last Saturday with a 3-0 win over Molloy. Senior forward
Jason Lampkin (Hawardon, Wales, United Kingdom) and sophomore back/midfielder
Nico Kjaer Andersen (Odense, Denmark) each scored a goal and added an assist in the victory.
Despite losing its first game of the year, Wingate tied for the No. 1 ranking in the poll. Simon Fraser, Charleston and Lynn all held their ground to round out the Top-5.
Head Coach
Andreas Lindberg and his LIU Post squad have earned the No. 1 seed in the East Region of the 2016 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship. They will host either fourth-seeded Franklin Pierce University or fifth-seeded Merrimack College in a second-round tilt on Saturday (Nov. 12) at Pioneer Soccer Park at 1 p.m. in Brookville, N.Y.
