SOMERS, Wis. (Nov. 8, 2016) - On Tuesday, LIU Post junior swimmer
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) was selected as the CollegeSwimming.com Metropolitan Conference Swimmer of the Week.
It marks the second time this year that a Pioneer has been recognized. Sophomore
Karis Fuller (London, England) earned the honor a week ago.
Bendfeldt won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle in respective times of 24.43 and 53.45 last Saturday against Bridgeport. She also swam the anchor leg of the Pioneers' 400-yard medley relay, which finished first at 3:57.04.
In the green and gold's last two meets, Bendfeldt has raced to first-place showings in the 50- and 100-free.
Bendfeldt and her LIU Post side return to the pool next Friday (Nov. 18), when they open competition at the Frank Elm Invitational, hosted by Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J.
