KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 30, 2016) - On Wednesday, the LIU Post men's soccer team had five players named to the 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II All-East Region Team.

Junior back David Arvidsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) and sophomore midfielder Charlie Ledula (London, England) led the way with NSCAA All-Region first-team selections.

Arvidsson made a repeat appearance on the NSCAA All-East Region First Team. He was tabbed as the 2016 East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, after anchoring a defensive unit that yielded the fewest goals (15) of any team in the league.

On the offensive side, Arvidsson scored four goals and added an assist for a career-best nine points. One of his tallies was the deciding factor in a 1-0 victory at Roberts Wesleyan on Oct. 14.

Meanwhile, Ledula had a prolific season, en route to garnering ECC Offensive Player of the Year distinction. He collected a league-best 18 goals and 42 points in 2016 for a team that led the conference and placed fifth in Division II in scoring offense, averaging 3.05 goals per game.

Junior midfielder Harry Pearse (London, England) earned a nod to the NSCAA All-East Region Second Team.

He was the green and gold's second-leading scorer this season, totaling 32 points (9 G, 14 A). Additionally, Pearse's 14 assists led the league and currently rank fifth-most in the nation.

Senior goalkeeper Jesper Malmstrom (Linkopping, Sweden) and red-shirt sophomore midfielder Erik Berthagen (Gothenburg, Sweden) comprised the Pioneers' representation on the NSCAA All-East Region Third Team.

Malmstrom, who was honored as the CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, recorded an ECC-leading eight shutouts in 2016. He also paced the conference in wins (16), goals-against average (0.67) and fewest goals allowed (11) this year.

Berthagen started in all 16 games he played in, and assisted in spearheading a back line that held the opposition to the lowest goals-against average (0.73) in the league. He had two goals to his credit, as well.
