Box Score 2 GAFFNEY, S.C. (Feb. 13, 2016) - On Saturday, the LIU Post baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Limestone College, 4-1 and 5-2, at Founders FCU Stadium in Gaffney.
In the opener, the Pioneers (0-2) got on the board first. Junior catcher
Thomas Asbaty (Randolph, N.J.) reached with a one-out single. Then, with senior second baseman
Matt Bowers (Staten Island, N.Y.) at the plate, Asbaty came around to score on three wild pitches, giving the green and gold a 1-0 lead.
In the third, the Saints (5-3) tied it with a run-scoring single. Later, in the fourth, Limestone loaded the bases and plated a run to make it 2-1 after the Pioneers turned a 4-6-3 double play.
In the fifth and sixth , Limestone scored on wild pitches. Junior pitcher
Jake DeCarli (Higganum, Conn.) went 4.2 innings, allowed three earned runs while striking out five. Senior
Dillon Burke (Plainview, N.Y.) went 1.1 innings in relief and gave up one earned run.

Joe Spitaleri (Levittown, N.Y.), sophomore right fielder
Rob Andreoli (North Wantagh, N.Y.), senior first baseman
David Groeneveld (Centereach, N.Y.), Asbaty and senior left fielder
John Bellock (Glen Cove, N.Y.) all recorded a hit.
In the second game, Andreoli singled home sophomore left fielder
James Cohan (Syosset, N.Y.), who was making his collegiate debut.
After Limestone tied it in the first and went a head 2-1 in the third, Andreoli doubled home Spitaleri to tie it at 2-all in the top of the fifth.
In the bottom half of the inning, graduate pitcher
J.P. Lipovac (East Elmhurst, N.Y.) allowed three unearned runs in relief.

Kyle Fagan (Wantagh, N.Y.) collected two hits apiece to lead the offense.
