Women's Basketball Falls to Queens, 67-50, in ECC Play

Box Score FLUSHING, N.Y. (Feb. 13, 2016) - On Saturday, the LIU Post women's basketball team fell to Queens College, 67-50, in East Coast Conference action at Fitzgerald Gymnasium in Flushing.

The Pioneers (5-19, 5-11 ECC) were led by senior guard Khea Gibbs (Norwalk, Conn.), who scored 13 points in 22 minutes off the bench.

LIU Post held a 27-25 lead at halftime. Senior guard Jalyn Brown (Riverhead, N.Y.) paced the offense with seven points in 18 minutes.

The Knights (13-8, 10-5 ECC) came back and put the game out of reach in the third, outscoring the Pioneers, 18-6.

In the fourth, Queens used a 12-2 run to open the quarter and maintained a double-digit lead throughout the remainder of the contest.

Junior forward Melsha Messam (St. Albans, N.Y.) chipped in nine points and seven rebounds in 28 minutes. Junior forward Nyasia Davis (Rahway, N.J.) added eight points in 17 minutes in reserve duty.

Head coach Deirdre Moore and the Pioneers return to the hardwood on Tuesday (Feb. 16) when they host New York Institute of Technology in the Battle of the Boulevard. The opening tip is slated for 5 p.m.
