STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Feb. 26, 2016) 
- On Friday, the LIU Post men's and women's indoor track and field teams individually placed sixth and eighth at the 2016 East Coast Conference Championships at the Ocean Breeze Park Track and Field Athletic Complex.

For the men, the Pioneers captured individual league crowns in the 3,000-meter run and the 4 x 400-meter relay. In the 3,000, red-shirt junior Mike Scott (Fultonville, N.Y.) posted a winning time of 8:42.97.

Meanwhile, in the 4x400-relay, junior Stefan Adams (Jamaica, N.Y.), red-shirt junior Wayne Harris (Jamaica, N.Y.), red-shirt sophomore Kyle Ward (Elizabeth, N.J.) and red-shirt freshman Kasim Thomas (Bronx, N.Y.) clocked a 3:25.40.

Adams also came in second in the 400-meter dash, crossing at 49.78. Ward leapt to a fourth-place mark of 6.26 meters (20 feet, 6.5 inches) in the long jump. Harris and Thomas respectively finished sixth (7.18) and ninth (7.27) in the preliminaries of the 60-dash.

Freshman Joseph Ranni (Deer Park, N.Y.) was eighth in the mile, clocking a 4:45.37. Sophomore Thomas Flynn (Smithtown, N.Y.) and red-shirt senior Steven Arnone (Staten Island, N.Y.) placed in the Top-10 in the 800-meter run. Flynn ran ninth (2:07.03), with Arnone following right behind in 10th (2:08.69).

The women's squad was led by sophomore Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.), who recorded a fourth-place time of 5:19.10 in the mile.

Graduate Sara Stebbings (Lillehammer, Norway) crossed in 10th (1:09.00) in the 400-dash. Freshman Kaitie Schillaci (Albany, N.Y.) earned a 12th-place finish (2:33.18) in the 800-meter run. Sophomore Nicolette DeSouza (Stroudsburg, Pa.) was 18th in the 200-dash, clocking a 28.05.

LIU Post wraps up the 2015-16 indoor campaign next weekend (Mar. 4-6), when they compete at the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Boston, Mass.
