Calderone, Turano, Langan Garner D2WCA All-Academic Distinction

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Mar. 16, 2016) - On Tuesday, the LIU Post wrestling team had three of its grapplers recognized for their off-mat achievements in 2015-16, earning Division II Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic accolades.

Senior Joe Calderone (Huntington Station, N.Y.) landed a spot on the D2WCA All-Academic First Team. Calderone, who qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships at 133 lbs. for the second-consecutive year, boasts a 3.33 cumulative grade-point average in Physical Education. He rounded out the campaign with a team-leading 32-11 record, including a 17-5 mark in duals.

Junior Vinny Turano (Wantagh, N.Y.) was named to the All-Academic Second Team. Turano, a 3.24 GPA student in Information Technology, won 12 straight bouts at 141 lbs. from Dec. 4 to Jan. 21. He finished the season at 21-8 overall and 15-3 in duals.

Lastly, sophomore 149-lb. wrestler Matt Langan (Wantagh, N.Y.) claimed All-Academic third-team honors. Carrying a 3.26 GPA in Health Sciences, Langan wrestled his way to a 24-16 record. He also posted a 10-8 ledger in duals.
