Box Score 2 UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Mar. 26, 2016) - On Saturday, the LIU Post baseball team dropped both ends of an East Coast Conference doubleheader at Molloy College, 5-1 and 3-0, at the Michel Field Athletic Complex in Uniondale.
The Pioneers (8-11, 0-3 ECC) struggled offensively all afternoon, as Molloy (14-6, 3-0 ECC) help LIU Post to just six hits in the two games.
In the opener, the Lions scored three in the bottom of the second off starter

The Pioneers got on the board in the top of the seventh when junior centerfielder
Kenny Daley (Glenwood Landing, N.Y.) hit his first home run of the season. LIU Post would put a runner on in the eighth, but couldn't score.
The Lions added a pair of runs in their half of the inning before Deilyn Guzman worked a 1-2-3 ninth to seal it.
In the second game, the Pioneers looked poised to get out to an early lead, but a long fly off the bat of senior first baseman
David Groeneveld (Centereach, N.Y.) hung up and was caught at the wall in left.
Molloy would put a run on the board in their half of the opening frame and from there it was a pitcher's duel.
Red-shirt senior
Joey Arena (Yorktown, N.Y.) kept the Lions off the board in the second and third but Molloy scored a pair of insurance runs in the fourth.
Freshman third baseman
Jimmy Mendyk (Massapequa, N.Y.) registered the team's only hit in the third, a one-out single to center.
Molloy's Bobby Kelly went the distance, allowing the one hit and striking out two. Arena allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and five walks.
