BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 11, 2016) - Following Saturday's 15-5 dismantling of then-No. 5 New York Institute of Technology, the LIU Post men's lacrosse team individually rose to 12th and 10th in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Division II rankings, announced Monday.
The Pioneers collected 189 points in the USILA tally, trailing No. 10 Dowling College and Seton Hill University by only five points.
Graduate midfielder
Jeremy Morgan (Ridge, N.Y.) and senior attackman/midfielder
Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) each scored four goals in Saturday's win. Senior attackman
Matt Bellando (Miami, Fla.) and senior midfielder
Anthony Berardis (Mahopac, N.Y.) tallied three goals apiece.
Junior midfielder
Anthony Galeotafiore (Wantagh, N.Y.) excelled on faceoffs, winning an overwhelming 18-of-21 (85.7 percent) draws. He currently places fifth amongst all of Division II in faceoff win percentage (.691).
Junior goaltender
Matthew Liantonio (Miller Place, N.Y.), who ranks 10th in the nation in goals-against average (8.13), made seven saves in the victory.
LIU Post returns to action Saturday (Apr. 16), when it hosts Dowling in an East Coast Conference match-up at noon at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
