Softball Cracks NFCA Top-25 Poll at No. 22

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Apr. 13, 2016) - On Wednesday, the LIU Post softball team entered the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Top-25 Poll, ranking at No. 22 in the tally.

The Pioneers, who recently swept then-No. 25 Southern New Hampshire University last Sunday (Apr. 10), currently boast an overall ledger of 22-7-1 and sit atop the East Coast Conference standings with a league mark of 11-1.

In the circle, junior pitcher Ashley Martin (Long Beach, N.Y.) was named the ECC Pitcher of the Week on Monday. She compiled a 2-0 record in three starts last week with a 1.40 earned-run average and 19 strikeouts.

Meanwhile, senior first baseman/designated player Paige Swantek (Smithtown, N.Y.) has been hot with the bat in April, hitting at a stellar .444 clip (8-of-18) with seven RBIs, four doubles and three walks.

LIU Post is back in action on Thursday (Apr. 14), when it hosts Molloy College in an East Coast Conference doubleheader at the LIU Post Softball Complex at 3 p.m.
