BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 14, 2016) - The No. 22 LIU Post softball team won a pair of one-run contests Thursday afternoon, defeating East Coast Conference foe Molloy College by scores of 1-0 and 3-2 at the LIU Post Softball Complex.

Game #1: LIU Post 1, Molloy 0
The opener saw junior pitcher Ashley Martin (Long Beach, N.Y.) toss her second complete-game shutout in as many starts for the Pioneers. She scattered three hits, all of which were singles, and struck out three in the victory.

Freshman catcher Julia Seader (Piscataway, N.J.) provided the walk-off heroics for LIU Post in the bottom of the seventh. After a lead-off double by junior second baseman Kayla McCoy (Smithtown, N.Y.), Seader drove her in for the game-winning run with a single into the right-center field gap.

Junior pitcher Chelsea Hawks (Wading River, N.Y.) was saddled with the loss in the decision for Molloy. She hurled 6.2 innings of eight-hit, one-run, two-walk, three-strikeout ball.

Game #2: LIU Post 3, Molloy 2
Tied 1-1 in the nightcap, the Pioneers (24-7-1, 13-1 ECC) plated a pair of runs in their half of the fifth to grab a 3-1 advantage. Seader doubled in the go-ahead run, while senior first baseman Paige Swantek (Smithtown, N.Y.) extended the green and gold's lead with an RBI groundout.

The Lions (25-15, 14-6 ECC) managed to close the gap to a one-run contest in their final turn at-bat, but the hosts staved off the rally.

Freshman pitcher Hannah Olshevski (Robbinsville, N.J.), who did not allow an earned run on the day, induced a pop-up from Kaitlyn Snyder (Smithtown, N.Y.) and a flyout from Tracey Balinskas (Edison, N.J.) with the tying run on base to end the game.

Head Coach Jamie Apicella and his LIU Post squad are back at it on Saturday (Apr. 16), when they host Queens College in an ECC doubleheader at noon in Brookville.
