Game #1: LIU Post 7, Molloy 5 - 8 Inn.
Despite holding an early two-run lead, the Pioneers trailed the Lions by a 3-2 score after three innings of play. Sophomore infielder Brianna Dalton (Northampton, Pa.) put Molloy ahead with an RBI double in the bottom of the third.
However, LIU Post rallied in its final turn at-bat, plating three runs in the seventh to grab a 5-3 edge. Down to their last out, the green and gold got a game-tying single from senior designated player
Paige Swantek (Smithtown, N.Y.). Senior outfielder
Isabella Corrao (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and junior infielder
Kayla McCoy (Smithtown, N.Y.) followed with RBI hits to widen the gap.
Molloy managed to re-tie the contest its half of the seventh on a Milan Botte (Reston, Va.) two-run homer, but LIU Post went in front for good in the top of the eighth.
Freshman catcher
Julia Seader (Piscataway, N.J.) provided the late-game heroics, driving in sophomore outfielder
Jaclyn Hahn (Bayport, N.Y.) for the eventual game-winning run with an RBI groundout. One batter later, senior third baseman
Maria Palmeri (Middle Village, N.Y.) ripped an RBI double to left, bringing around freshman shortstop
Leah Mele (Coram, N.Y.) for insurance.
Freshman pitcher
Hannah Olshevski (Robbinsville, N.Y.) got the win in relief, hurling two frames of three-hit ball. Additionally, she stranded the tying runners on base for the Lions in the last of the eighth.
Game #2: LIU Post 6, Molloy 3
Down 1-0 through two innings, the Pioneers (29-8-1, 18-2 ECC) evened the score in the top of the third on a solo blast along the right-field line by Seader.
Though LIU Post subsequently left two runners on in the fourth and fifth, the visitors grabbed the lead in the sixth. Junior outfielder
Mackenzie Buckley (St. James, N.Y.), who led things off by being hit by a pitch, advanced to third on a sacrifice, before freshman first baseman
Ashley Melendez (Levittown, N.Y.) pushed her across with an RBI fielder's choice.
That same inning, sophomore pinch-runner
Claire Travis (East Meadow, N.Y.) scored on a fielding error by Dalton, making it a two-run game.
In the seventh, the Pioneers closed the door on the Lions (26-20, 15-9 ECC), as they put up a three-spot to extend their advantage to 6-1. The green and gold got productive outs in the frame to aid in the scoring. McCoy drew a bases-loaded walk on a full count, while sophomore pinch-hitter
Emily DeVito (Preston, Conn.) delivered an RBI groundout.
In the circle, Olshevski picked up the victory, tossing a complete-game five-hitter with three runs (two earned), two walks and two strikeouts.
