Men's Lacrosse Surges to Sixth in USILA Division II Poll

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 25, 2016) - The LIU Post men's lacrosse team has moved up two spots to No. 6 in Monday's United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division II Poll.

The Pioneers are coming off a third-straight victory over a fellow nationally-ranked opponent, after defeating then-No. 13 Mercy College, 10-9, in the final minutes on Saturday (Apr. 23).

Senior attackman Matt Bellando (Miami, Fla.) netted the game-winning goal on an extra-man opportunity with 1:38 left in regulation. It was his sixth man-up tally of the season, which is tied for second-most in the East Coast Conference.

LIU Post continues to boast the No. 1 man-up offense in the country, converting at a .564 success rate. The Pioneers also rank in the Top-10 in Division II in six other statistical categories.

Fellow senior attackman Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored three times in Saturday's win, putting him three goals away from breaking the program's career record.

The Pioneers close out the 2016 regular season Saturday (Apr. 30), when they welcome in University of the District of Columbia for an ECC clash at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at 2 p.m. in Brookville.
