CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (May 12, 2016) - On Thursday, the East Coast Conference released its annual All-Conference teams, and five members of the LIU Post baseball team were honored by the league.

Sophomore outfielder Rob Andreoli (North Wantagh, N.Y.) was the lone first-team selection. Andreoli led the Pioneers and was eighth in the ECC with a .337 batting average. The North Wantagh native also led the green and gold with 51 hits and had a 17-game hitting streak from Mar. 30-Apr. 29. In addition, Andreoli led the team with 20 stolen bases on the year.

Senior first baseman David Groeneveld (Centereach, N.Y.), junior catcher Thomas Asbaty (Randolph, N.J.) and junior pitchers Dan Jagiello (West Islip, N.Y.) and Jake DeCarli (Higganum, Conn.) were all named to the All-ECC Second Team after solid seasons for the Pioneers.

Groeneveld was one of the most productive hitters in the conference and ended the regular season leading the league in slugging (.556), runs batted in (38) and doubles (18). Groeneveld also became the first Pioneer to break the 30-RBI mark since 2010. Asbaty was a mainstay for the Pioneers behind the plate, catching nearly every game in 2016. The Randolph, N.J. native hit .280 with 35 runs scored and 21 RBIs.

Jagiello battled through a tough start to the season, but came on late and ended the regular season tied for the league lead with seven wins. The righty finished third in the ECC with 70 strikeouts in 66.2 innings pitched and posted a 3.64 ERA. This is the second time in three years that Jagiello has found himself on the All-ECC Second Team. DeCarli ended the year at 4-4 with a 3.08 ERA and threw two complete games in his last three starts of the season. DeCarli, the 2015 ECC Pitcher of the Year, earns his second-straight All-ECC nod.
