INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 2, 2016) - On Monday morning, the 64-team field for the 2016 NCAA Division II Softball Tournament was announced, and LIU Post received the No. 2 seed in the East Region.
The Pioneers are set to face seventh-seeded Molloy College at Adelphi University's Janet L. Ficke Field, in a re-match of last week's East Coast Conference Championship. They won all four regular-season meetings and own a mark of 4-2 against the Lions in 2016.
Senior third baseman
Maria Palmeri (Middle Village, N.Y.) has hit at a team-best .381 clip in the six games versus Molloy. Freshman catcher
Julia Seader (Piscataway, N.J.) has tagged the Lions for two homers and six RBIs, in addition to batting .318.
In the circle, freshman pitcher
Hannah Olshevski (Robbinsville, N.J.) boasts a 3-1 record versus Molloy with a 1.22 earned-run average and a .172 batting average against. She has yielded two earned runs or fewer in all four of those starts.
The winners of the two NCAA Sub-Regionals will meet next week in the NCAA East Super Regional for the right to hoist the East Region title.
