PERRY, N.Y. (May 30, 2016) - On Sunday, LIU Post men's lacrosse senior midfielder
Anthony Berardis (Mahopac, N.Y.) and senior attackmen
Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) and
Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) were recognized to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division II All-America Team.
Berardis was chosen to the USILA All-America First Team, while Slane and Beccaris received All-America second-team and Honorable Mention accolades, respectively.
Berardis is the Pioneers' first USILA All-America first-team selection since 2011 (Mike Messina, Eddie Plompen). He tallied 22 goals and 20 assists for 42 points in 2016. His 20 helpers were tied for fifth-most in the ECC. Earlier in the month, Berardis landed a spot on the All-East Coast Conference First Team.
Slane, who also garnered All-ECC first-team distinction, earns his second-straight USILA All-America nod. He ranked second in the ECC this year in scoring with 72 points (42 goals, 25 assists) and placed in the Top-20 in Division II in goals per game (2.94) and points per game (4.44).
Beccaris, a four-time USILA All-American, had 38 goals and 18 assists for 56 points this season. He finished in the Top-10 amongst the league's leaders in goals, points and man-up goals (8). Additionally, Beccaris etched his name into the LIU Post record books on Apr. 30, when he broke the program's career goal record in an 18-3 win over University of the District of Columbia.
