Slane, Bellando Named to ECAC Division II All-Star Team

DANBURY, Conn. (Jun. 9, 2016) - The Eastern College Athletic Conference released the names of its 2016 Division II Men's Lacrosse All-Stars on Tuesday, and LIU Post had two of its players honored.

Senior attackman/midfielder Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) was selected to the ECAC All-Star First Team, while fellow senior attackman Matt Bellando (Miami, Fla.) earned second-team distinction.

Slane had a career year in 2016, amassing 47 goals and 25 assists for a team-leading 72 points. He ranked second in the East Coast Conference in points, third in goals and fourth in assists. Slane's five man-up tallies were tied for eighth-most in the league, one of which was the overtime game-winner in a 10-9 upset of then-No. 10 Dowling College on Apr. 16.

He notched multiple goals in 15 of the team's 16 games and had the second-most tallies (25) amongst all conference scorers in ECC play. Slane went on to be recognized to the All-ECC First Team and USILA All-America Second Team.

Bellando, an All-ECC second-team honoree, scored a league-high-tying 48 goals and added 14 assists for 62 points in his final season. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the ECC Tournament, after recording nine points (8 G, 1 A) in two postseason contests, including a five-goal performance in the title game against New York Institute of Technology.
