Field Hockey Chosen Sixth in NE-10 Preseason Poll

MANSFIELD, Mass. (Aug. 24, 2016) - The LIU Post field hockey team has been tabbed to finish sixth in the 2016 Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, released Wednesday morning.

The Pioneers posted their third-consecutive winning season in 2015 at 10-8 overall. They also yielded the second-fewest goals (22) and had the second-most penalty corners (186) in the NE-10.

LIU Post collected 86 points in the voting. Merrimack College topped the poll with 141 points and 10 first-place votes. Stonehill College followed in second, earning 130 points and two first-place nods.

The Pioneers return eight of their 11 starters from a year ago. Sophomore forward/midfielder Emily Miller (Bridgewater, N.J.) tallied 14 points (5 G, 4 A) in her rookie campaign, while junior defender Grace Ilias (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) scored six goals (four game-winners) for a 12-point output last season.

Head Coach Raenee Savin and her LIU Post squad open their 2016 slate on Saturday, Sept. 3 in Waltham at Bentley University at 5 p.m.
