BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2016) - On Saturday, the LIU Post women's soccer team won its third-straight game, shutting out Merrimack College, 3-0, in a non-conference tilt at Pioneer Soccer Park.

The Pioneers (5-2-1) challenged Merrimack (3-2-2) junior goalie Molly Meehan (Fairfield, Conn.) from the start, and broke through for the contest's opening goal in the 38th minute.

Freshman forward Julia Duffy (Oceanside, N.Y.) finished a Sarah McGarry (Islip, N.Y.) pass into the upper right corner of the net to give the hosts a 1-0 halftime cushion.

During the latter period, LIU Post kept up the offensive intensity, and struck for a pair of goals in the final 6:23 to close out the scoring.

Sophomore forward Isabella Fuduli (East Meadow, N.Y.) doubled the Pioneers' lead in the 84th minute, after heading a shot into an open net.

Less than four minutes later, sophomore forward Andrea Huntzinger (Stockholm, Sweden) ripped a shot into the mesh, off a feed from freshman back Paige Sherlock (West Islip, N.Y.).

Between the pipes, sophomore goalie Hillevi Eklow (Väröbacka, Sweden) made three saves for LIU Post. Meehan stopped 11 shots for Merrimack.

The Pioneers held a dominant 21-9 advantage in shots. They also earned 10 corner kicks to the Warriors' three.

Head Coach Mark Dawson and his LIU Post squad return to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 5, when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. for a 3:30 p.m. opening kick at Philadelphia University.
