Wrestling Wraps Up Competition at Kutztown Duals
KUTZTOWN, Pa. (Jan. 21, 2017) - On Saturday, the LIU Post wrestling team went 1-2 to conclude action at the Kutztown Duals, hosted at Keystone Arena.
The Pioneers, who now sit at 9-6 overall, won their opening dual against Belmont Abbey College (23-22), before suffering losses to Minot State University (23-18) and No. 23 Tiffin University (33-9).

In their lone win of the day, the Pioneers trailed 19-16, until freshman
Dan McClure (Westhampton, N.Y.) majored Tyler MacLaine (Toms River, N.J.) by a 14-3 score at 184 to catapult his team in front for good.
Then, at the 197-lb. weight class, sophomore
Logan McGinn (Medford, N.Y.) earned a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Brian Girard (Panama City, Fla.) to extend the green and gold's lead to 23-19.
Senior
T.J. Fabian (Wading River, N.Y.) recorded his team-leading fifth fall of the year at 149, pinning Santonio Thompson (Mooresville, N.C.) in 1:19.
In the bout prior, junior
Matt Langan (Wantagh, N.Y.) won a 13-1 major decision over Jonathan Charpenter (Rogersville, Tenn.) at 141.
LIU Post 18, Minot State 23
Tied 6-6 after three bouts, Fabian put the Pioneers ahead with a 4-0 blanking of Cody Haugen (Minot, N.D.) at the 149-lb. weight class.
However, the Beavers (2-10) answered with three straight wins, including a forfeit at 165, to grab the lead for good.
Freshman
Bobby Pease (Medford, N.Y.) secured his third collegiate victory with a hard-fought 11-9 decision versus Keegan Berry (Casper, Wyo.) at 184 lbs.
Meanwhile, at heavyweight, junior
James Louison (Hauppauge, N.Y.) pinned Jake Belland (Watford City, N.D.) in 2:55 for his third fall in his last five matches.

The Pioneers jumped out to a quick 6-0 advantage in their final dual, after junior
Jacoby Jones (Ossining, N.Y.) and freshman
Anthony Sparacio (North Babylon, N.Y.) won via decision at 125 and 133, respectively.
The green and gold eventually led 9-7 at the halfway point of the contest, as red-shirt junior
Jackson Mordente (Farmingville, N.Y.) defeated Richard Screptock (Oregon, Ohio), 4-0, at 157.
The strong start was all for not though. The Dragons (4-2) reeled off five straight victories to close out the match and seal the win.

Joe Patrovich and his LIU Post squad return to the mat next Sunday (Jan. 29), when they compete at the USC Wildcat Open, hosted by Johnson & Wales University at 9:30 a.m. in Providence, R.I.
