Men's Indoor Track Picked Seventh in ECC Preseason Poll

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Jan. 28, 2017) - The LIU Post men's indoor track and field team was selected seventh in the 2017 East Coast Conference Preseason Poll, the league released Friday.

The Pioneers, who collected 22 points in the voting, were predicted to finish seventh in the conference, after a sixth-place effort at the ECC Championships last year.

The green and gold return three All-East Coast Conference selections from last season, all of whom helped to deliver a league title in the 4 x 400-meter relay.

In 2016, senior Stefan Adams (Jamaica, N.Y.), red-shirt junior Kyle Ward (Elizabeth, N.J.) and red-shirt sophomore Kasim Thomas (Bronx, N.Y.) clocked a winning time of 3:25.40 in the relay.

Roberts Wesleyan and St. Thomas Aquinas tied for the top spot in the poll, earning 58 points apiece. The Redhawks received five first-place votes, while the Spartans got two first-place nods.

Head Coach Kevin Buckley and the Pioneers return to action Friday (Feb. 3), when they compete at the Metropolitan Championships at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex at noon in Staten Island.
