BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Jan. 7, 2017) - The LIU Post women's basketball team won its third-straight game Saturday, defeating East Coast Conference foe Roberts Wesleyan College, 89-76, at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville.
The Pioneers (8-7, 5-1 ECC) also tied the single-game program record for three-pointers made with 12. It is the second time in the last three contests that the green and gold achieved the feat.
Trailing 39-33 at the break, LIU Post opened the third quarter on a 19-6 run to grab a 52-45 lead at the 1:30 mark. Sophomore forward

Mikaiya Moore (Amityville, N.Y.) ignited the burst with back-to-back lay-ups. Senior guard
Kylie Garrett (Mount Orab, Ohio) accounted for the last eight points of the streak.
In the final stanza, the Pioneers, who shot a spectacular 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from the field in the period, widened the gap to double digits and never looked back. Garrett knocked down three treys in the quarter to shut the door on the Redhawks (8-7, 5-1 ECC). Senior forward

Shannon Doyle (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) each added a three-pointer, as well.
The green and gold shot 42.5 percent (31-of-73) from the field, 42.9 percent (12-of-28) from deep and 78.9 percent (15-of-19) from the line in the contest. They also out-rebounded Roberts Wesleyan by a commanding 54-40 count.
Garrett led the Pioneers, scoring a game-high-tying 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting. She also swatted away four blocks. Doyle earned her first collegiate double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) in 24 minutes off the bench. James collected 14 points and nine rebounds. Moore finished with 10 points and five rebounds. Kristen Olsen (Staten Island, N.Y.) added eight points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
