WASHINGTON, D.C. - Junior midfielder
Vittorio Argeri found the back of the net 41 seconds into the overtime period, giving the eighth-ranked LIU Post men's soccer team a 4-3 victory at the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday afternoon at UDC Field.
The Firebirds (10-3, 4-1 ECC) opened the scoring 28 seconds into action, and continued to add to their lead over the next 47 minutes of action, leading the contest 3-1 through 54 minutes of play.
The Pioneers (8-0-2, 3-0-1 ECC) battled back, though, as junior midfielder
Charlie Ledula headed home a corner kick by senior midfielder
Harry Pearse to cut the lead to one (3-2).
With 3:31 minutes left to play, sophomore back
Khalid Al Saud tallied his first goal of the season to knot the score at 3-all sending the contest into overtime.
This led to Argeri's game-winner off a feed by freshman back Love Fredriksson.
Oliver Hessner Hansen made four saves in his 90:41 minutes between the pipes.
The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday (Oct. 18) when they host Mercy for a 1 p.m. tilt at Pioneer Soccer Park.
