FLUSHING, N.Y. - The No. 6 LIU Post men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw in Queens on Saturday.
The Pioneers struck first, as graduate
Johann Kristjansson (Reykjavik, Iceland) tapped a helper from
Khalid Al Saud (London, England) to the bottom of the net in the 26th minute of play. That offensive advantage would be good for the rest of the half, with the shots on goal nearly even going into the break.
The green and gold's lead would hold until the 72nd minute of the contest, as the Knights converted a free kick from twenty yards out to tie the contest at one a piece. The stalemate would hold through regulation and two overtime periods to conclude the draw.
Junior goalkeeper
Oliver Hessner Hansen (Vaerloese, Denmark) recorded eight saves through 110 minutes, while the LIU Post offense took nine shots total.
Head Coach
Andreas Lindberg and the Pioneer's men's soccer squad returns to action Thursday, Oct. 12th, in Philadelphia, Pa., when they are set to face Jefferson University. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
