Pioneers Continue Their Winning Ways at Home in 49-7 Rout Over Merrimack

Brookville, NY- The LIU Post football team won its fourth consecutive contest taking down NE-10 opponent Merrimack College by the score of 49-7 on Saturday afternoon at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

With the win, the Pioneers improve to 7-2 on the season, including a 6-2 record in conference play, as Merrimack falls to 3-6 (3-5 NE-10).

As a unit, the Pioneers offense amassed 484 yards of total offense against the Warriors, including 363 passing yards. Amir Crenshaw recorded three touchdowns in the contest, and Michael Richardson tallied a pair of scores. In comparison, the Pioneer defense held the Warriors to 183 passing yards.

Kadir Wisdom finished his day with 39 rushing yards, while Malik Pierre rushed for 37 yards on eight carries.

The Pioneers held the Warriors to 252 yards of total offense, including 69 rushing yards. CJ Scarpa finished with 183 passing yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Jared Chester led the Pioneer defense with seven tackles. Kamani Odrick added six tackles, while Kasim Thomas contributed with five.

The opening score of the game come on LIU Post's opening drive. LIU post's nine-play drive went a total of 76 yards downfield, and a Richardson touchdown and a two-point conversion gave the Pioneers an 8-0 lead. The Pioneers continued to score on their next two drives courtesy of Yianni Gavalas' touchdown passes to exit the first quarter 22-0.

The Pioneers' were forced to settle for a 25-yard field goal to go up 25-0 early in the second quarter. After a four-and-out, LIU Post answered back with another six points when Galavas connected with Crenshaw for 22 yards.

Galavas would score once again on the final play of the first half, this time, the veteran quarterback would rush in a one-yard touchdown to take a commanding 39-0 lead.
