Kings Park, NY|  On Saturday, the LIU Post wrestling team traveled to Kings Point for the 2017 Mariner Duals at the Liebertz Gymnasium.

The Pioneers went 2-0 on the day with wins over USMMA (44-6) and Hunter College (54-0).

In the opening match against USMMA, Nick Conetta earned a 5-2 decision at 125, but the Mariners answered back with a pin at 133 to take a 6-3 lead over the Pioneers. LIU Post responded with a fall of its own at 141 when #4 Anthony Sparacio defeated Rodman Rupp, followed by a fall at 149 by #10 Joe Calderone. LIU Post again scored six points in consecutive bouts, as T.J. Fabian earned a win via pin at 157 and Jackson Mordente earned a pin of his own at 165 in 3:54.

Dan Arkow claimed a fall victory at 174, while Dan McClure and Bobby Pearse earned wins via decisions at the 184 and 197 weight class, respectively.

Damien Caffrey wrapped up the competition at 285 taking down Dan Dubinsky to earn the 44-6 win.

Against LIU Post, the Pioneers opened the match up with a 18-0 lead over the fist four classes which featured a fall by #4 Sparacio and a major decision win from #10 Calderone. LIU Post dominated the rest of the match as Fabian claimed a victory via fall at 157 and Mordente at 165. Arkow, McClure, Logan McGinn and Caffrey finished the match with four-consecutive falls in their respective class.
