Kutztown, PA| The LIU Post wrestling team was defeated in a dual meet, 22-17, against Kutztown University on Saturday night.
The Golden Bears started the match with a technical fall at 125 which was followed by an 8-3 decision victory at 133-lbs.
Anthony Sparacio put the Pioneers on the board in the third match of the evening with a win by major decision at 141 pounds, 13-3. Joseph Calderone picked up an 18-12 decision victory to close LIU Post's gap to one (8-7).
T.J. Fabian gained six points through an LIU Post fall to bring the score to 13-8. Another decision went the Pioneers' way at 165, as Jackson Mordente took a 6-0 decision to increase LIU Post's lead 16-8.
Dan Arkow grappled at the 174-weight class with a closely-contested 5-2 decision victory.
After KU victory at 184 lbs., the Bears capitalized with a 5-0 decision-victory to close the gap to two (19-17).
Ryan Appleby controlled the action in his bout at 184 pounds, tallying five points to edge out the Pioneers 22-17.
LIU Post will start the new year at home when the Pioneers host Long Island Wrestling Day on Sunday, Jan. 7.
