Sparacio Advances in Wrestlebacks at NCAA National Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Mar. 10, 2017)
- On Friday, freshman Anthony Sparacio (North Babylon, N.Y.) opened up competition in the 133-lb. bracket at the NCAA Division II National Championships at the CrossPlex in Birmingham.

Despite losing his opening bout to Minnesota State-Moorhead's Blake Bosch, Sparacio fought back in the consolation bracket.

He won both of his bouts in the wrestlebacks, commencing with an 8-5 win against Martin Ramirez of Adams State.

Sparacio followed that up with a thrilling 4-2 sudden-victory decision over Findlay's Devin Rogers.

Sparacio returns to the mat on Saturday (Mar. 11), when he vies for All-America status at the NCAA Division II National Championships at the CrossPlex in Birmingham.
