CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 6, 2017) - On Monday, the East Coast Conference awarded its first weekly softball honors of the 2017 season, and LIU Post sophomore catcher Julia Seader (Piscataway, N.J.) and senior pitcher Ashley Martin (Long Beach, N.Y.) were named the league's player and pitcher of the week, respectively.

Seader hit a blistering .571 with a home run and two RBIs in a pair of season-opening victories on Sunday (Mar. 5). She also scored four runs, while boasting a 1.000 slugging and .625 on-base percentage.

In the Pioneers' 6-1 triumph over Holy Family, Seader was a perfect 3-for-3 with a home run, a walk and three runs scored. Her round-tripper was a lead-off solo blast in the top of the third inning.

Meanwhile, Martin was stellar in her 2017 debut, tossing a complete game against Holy Family. She yielded just five hits and one walk and struck out nine in seven innings of work.
