Charleston, Simon Fraser, Adelphi, Lynn and Lenoir-Rhyne claimed the 1-5 spots in the rankings, followed by Colorado Mesa, Rockhurst, Midwestern State and Palm Beach Atlantic to round out the top-10. The Pioneers, who enter play this week with an overall record of 3-0-1, defeated then-No. 25 Merrimack, 1-0, before claiming a 2-1 victory over Southern Connecticut last week. Lukas Ostermann scored in just the seventh minute to give the green and gold all the offense it would need. The graduate from Saterland, Germany notched his third tally in as many games, converting a through ball from junior forward Charlie Ledula (London, England). Against the Owls, Ostermann got things going once again, this time finding the back of the net just three minutes into play. Southern Connecticut responded just 44 seconds later, leveling the score at one. Then, in the 76th minute, graduate midfielder Martin Lozano (Buenos Aires, Argentina) sent a corner kick into the net for the game-winner. The Pioneers return to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 16, when they travel to Waterbury, Conn., to take on Post University. LIU Post and the Eagles are scheduled for a 3 p.m. first kick.
