BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - A pair of goals off the foot of redshirt-sophomore midfielder
Alice Schonfeldt (Burtrask, Sweden) led the seventh-ranked LIU Post women's soccer team to a 3-0 shutout over Jefferson at Pioneer Soccer Park on Wednesday.
This marks the third time in four games that the Pioneers (4-0) have kept an opponent off the scoreboard.
Schonfeldt got the scoring started in the 12th minute when corralled a corner kick by senior back
Kristen Breihof (Levittown, N.Y.) and finished inside the right post.
The Rams (2-2) would only manage one shot in the half (and one in the second half as well) while the green and gold peppered the Jefferson goalie with 13 shots on goal (26 overall).
LIU Post added to its lead as junior forward
Andrea Huntzinger (Stockholm, Sweden) found the back of the net just into the 66th minute.
Schonfeldt tacked on the Pioneers' third marker of the contest with just under nine minutes to play as she sent a strike past the keeper from 25 yards out on the right side.
Jefferson's Erin Tinneny recorded 10 saves on the day, while junior
Hillevi Eklow (Väröbacka, Sweden) turned aside the only shot she faced.
Next up for the Pioneers is a trip to North Andover, Mass. on Saturday (Sept. 16). They are set to take on Merrimack at 6 p.m.
