Men's Soccer Slips to No. 9 in United Soccer Coaches Division II Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After drawing with then-No. 5 Adelphi and beating American International to begin the 2017 campaign, the LIU Post men's soccer team fell two spots to No. 9 in the first United Soccer Coaches Division II poll of the regular season after checking in at No. 7 in the preseason poll.

Graduate student Lukas Ostermann (Saterland, Germany) led the offense with a pair of goals and an assist on the weekend. Morten Wenaas (Molde, Norway) also scored a pair of goals, including the game-tying tally against Adelphi on Thursday and the game-winner against AIC on Saturday.

LIU Post completed its first unbeaten regular season in program history in 2016, and won its fourth ECC title in the last five years. The Pioneers also claimed the top seed in the NCAA Division II Championship and advanced to the East Region final for the fourth-consecutive year.

The Pioneers return to the pitch this weekend, taking part in the 2017 University of Bridgeport Men's Soccer Classic in Bridgeport, Conn. LIU Post will square off against Merrimack on Thursday before taking on Southern Connecticut State on Saturday, Sept. 9. Both matches are scheduled for a 4 p.m. opening kick.
