BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Women's basketball head coach
Deirdre Moore announced her early signing period recruitment class, including two teammates slated to suit up in the Green and Gold for the 2018-19 season.
The class includes
Ja'Lyn Armstrong and
Madison Dubose, both of which come to LIU Post from the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore, Md.
Name: Ja'Lyn Armstrong
Position: Guard
Hometown: Baltimore, Md.
Previous School: Institute of Notre Dame
High School Highlights: Armstrong entered her senior year as a defensive force, compiling 880 points and 610 rebounds through three seasons as a varsity starter. The guard was named all-conference all three years, and as a junior averaged 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals per contest after transitioning from the post to the wing.
Coach Moore's Take: Ja'Lyn is a winner. She makes everyone around her better when she is on the court. She is a versatile player that can score both in transition, and in the half court set. She is skilled going both directions and is very strong with the ball, and her work ethic and skill set will allow her to step in and contribute immediately at LIU Post. We believe she will be an impact player on both sides of the ball and I am so excited to have her come be a part of our family.
Name: Madison Dubose
Position: Forward
Hometown: Baltimore, Md.
Previous School: Institute of Notre Dame
High School Highlights: Dubose is a two-year varsity starter, recording 507 points, 523 rebounds, and 117 blocks during her career. As a junior, she averaged nine points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks per contest. The forward is a very versatile defender and was named the 2017 Baltimore Winter Classic most valuable player.
Coach Moore's Take: Madison is an athletic, quick forward that brings depth to our front line. She can play at the top of the press, and defend on both the perimeter and in the post. She will be a dual sport athlete at LIU Post, running cross country and outdoor track. We are looking forward to her using that speed to help us get out in transition. She shows the potential to do well, and we are happy to have her join the LIU Post community.
